Defensive Handgun Course

The Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy is presenting a Defensive Handgun Course. The courses will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Academy. Tuition for the course includes all notebooks, handouts, and materials. Class is limited to 10.

Defensive Handgun is an eight-hour class covering use of the pistol in defensive or combative applications. Class focuses on the fundamentals of combat - marksmanship, both precision and surgical fire, manipulations, administrative combative skills, moving and shooting, and tactics/skills necessary for fighting including two-man tactics.

Instructor Bio

SHOOTRITE Director Tiger McKee has been involved in shooting sports since childhood, receiving early instruction from his father , a U.S. Army Special Forces Colonel. McKee has since immersed himself in the world of combative hand gunning and riflery, training in the tactical use of firearms with the leading experts in the nation. Under the legendary Col. Jeff Cooper, founder of the Modern Technique of the Hand Gun, Mckee achieved an Expert rating in both rifle and pistol. Tiger continues to train extensively in combat fighting skills with the foremost experts in the country to stay abreast of the latest in tactical and instructional techniques.

Tiger is a member of IALEFI and ILEETA, a regular contributor to firearms and training publications and a staff member of SWAT magazine. His training experiences include High Risk Tactical Tracking Operations to certifications in defensive driving. These experiences have lead to Tiger assisting several law enforcement agencies in establishing their own training programs and creating custom programs to satisfy specific needs.

As a regular contributor to several firearms related magazines and a staff member of SWAT magazine Tiger covers a variety of subjects ranging reviews of training, discussions on the various aspects of combative tactics, to do-it-yourself articles on constructing and modifying tactical gear.

"The Book of Two Guns," a personal training diary written over a ten year study of fighting with firearms, has received great reviews from leading members of the firearms world such as Clint Smith, Brian McCombie, and Peter Kokalis and a variety of others.

McKee is a skilled and practical instructor who brings a high level of enthusiasm to the range. His ongoing pursuit of excellence lead to Tiger being selected by Clint Smith as an adjunct instructor for the premier training facility in the nation, Thunder Ranch, where he teaches pistol, carbine, precision rifle and team tactics courses. Tiger also works as an instructor with Rifles Only, teaching precision rifle skills to military and law enforcement personnel. Continued training, coupled with countless hours of personal research, insures that SHOOTRITE students receive the best possible instruction in the combative arts.

If for some reason you are unable to attend the course and we are not informed of your cancellation by fax, e-mail, or letter, you will still be invoiced the full tuition fee. There will be no refunds for cancellations after the registration deadline.
